Water system to be renovated at Girl Scouts camp?

2012 Annual ReportThe Record reported that three state legislators proposed bills to secure funding to renovate the water system at Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s Camp Conowingo. Camp Conowingo had an aged water distribution system throughout the entire camp. With the secured funding over 8,000 feet of pipe was installed in Spring 2012 feeding every camp unit and building. In addition, each of the four existing wells has been brought up to current State code, well pumps replaced and electric feeds replaced. The two pump houses that distributes the water to the buildings and units have new pressure tanks, plumbing lines and neutralizing system installed. Wash stands and plumbing for each unit has been replaced with labor provided by AmeriCorps. The entire project has been completed in a time period of six weeks, minimizing the disruption to troop and service unit encampments.
