Jewelry designer and artist Betty Cooke has created an original piece for Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s Distinguished Women’s Award reception auction. A former Distinguished Woman honoree and Girl Scout alumna, Ms. Cooke is known internationally for her original jewelry pieces. She received the De Beers diamonds Today Award in 1979 and 1981for her unique and artful approach to design. Fashionable women from around the world don her unique jewelry which has been featured in in Bazaar and Vogue magazines. The necklace will be auctioned at the Distinguished Women’s Event on Thursday.

Wow! Ms. Cooke is really generous! She’s a true girl scout at heart. Maybe because she was too generous that’s why she’s well-known around the world and very successful. I hope she would keep her feet on the ground and continue the virtues of a Girl Scout.
