When asked whether AmeriCorps service is worth all of the hard work and the year []

A Special Thanks to Our Volunteers during National Volunteer Week

This National Volunteer Week we’d like to give a special ‘thanks’ to all of our wonderful volunteers. The amazing things that thousands of girls in our community accomplish would not be possible without the adult volunteers who donate their time and talents to serve the girls in their community. Girl Scout volunteers can get involved in many ways other than as troop leaders. Women and men, young and old, can share their passion for a particular hobby, become a mentor for an []

Gold Award Project Spreads Healthy Smiles Beyond Borders

When it came time for Julie of Troop 329 to plan her Gold Award project, choosing an activity to serve a Spanish-speaking community seemed to be an obvious choice. Julie, who had taken Spanish courses since kindergarten, chose to write a book in Spanish for children in San Bartolo, El Salvador, where her church frequently traveled for mission trips. “I talked to the woman who runs the trip about what the biggest need was in the community and she said that the []

Take the Power of Girls Pledge

With World Thinking Day right around the corner, it’s important to think about the issues that face girls globally. It’s hard to believe, but tens of millions of girls around the world are not allowed to go to school. In some parts of the world, simply being born a girl means being kept from getting an education. Yet, the more education a girl gets, the more likely she is to have a healthy family, a solid income to invest back into her []
