GSCM Scout Attends Town Hall Meeting with Secretary of the Interior

Yesterday, Girl Scout Ambassador Brianna met with the Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Judge Catherine O’Malley, and GSUSA CEO Anna Maria Chavez during a town hall meeting at the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center. The meeting focused on saving women’s historical sites across the nation and ensuring the history of women is preserved and shared.  

Girl Scout Troop 1241 Named Oakland Mills Volunteers of the Year

Girl Scout Troop 1241 have been selected by the Oakland Mills Board of Directors as the 2012 Oakland Mills Volunteers of the Year. Girl Scout Troup Leader Rebecca Conover and troop members Kara, Grace, Anna, Liza, Mia, Rachel, Jessica, Rebecca, Virginia, Kaitlyn, Rupini, Leticia and parent assistants Karen Lampron and Jamie Murphy, have volunteered at the Oakland Mills Community Association for the past seven years. Howard County Girl Scout Named 2012 Girl Gone Great

Rupini, a Girl Scout Ambassador from Columbia, Md. was named this year’s Girl Gone Great, WomanTalk Live’s scholarship essay contest. In her essay, Rupini wrote about her passion for community service and her vision to change the world by working in medical research. In addition to Girl Scouting, Rupini spends her time volunteering as a peer tutor and with the Teen Time After-School Initiative at Howard County Library. Girl Scouts of Central Maryland CEO named to the Top 100 Women Circle of Excellence

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland CEO Traci Barnett was named to the Daily Record’s Top 100 Women Circle of Excellence. The Top 100 Women award recognizes high-achieving Maryland women who are making an impact through their leadership, community service and mentoring. Honorees are inducted into the Circle of Excellence after being nominated three times. Girl Scouts of Central Maryland Launch Local Year of the Girl Campaign

Girl Scouts of Central Maryland yesterday received the official proclamation naming 2012 the Year of the Girl in Maryland by the State Legislature. GSCM CEO Traci Barnett and Board Chair, Sheela Murthy received the proclamation with Girl Scouts from across central Maryland.
