GSCM Donates 3000 lbs of Cookies to Harvest for the Hungry

This week kicked‐off Girl Scouts’ annual Harvest for the Hungry campaign—a community service project that benefits the Maryland Food Bank. Last Friday,Girl Scouts of Central Maryland CEO, Traci A. Barnett announced that in addition to the 3,000 pound donation of Girl Scout Cookies made that day, “Girl Scouts across central Maryland will be working to collect 100,000 pounds of food for this year’s Harvest for the Hungry food drive.”

Last year, 1,603 girls in 156 Girl Scout Troops participated in the campaign and collected 77,909lbs of food. Girl Scouts, this year and in years past, drop off empty grocery bags at the doors of their neighbors; filled bags will then be picked up by USPS carriers. Donations will also be accepted at  various donation booths in neighborhoods and Safeway Stores and at Girl Scout events and activities throughout the month.
