Did you know that we have a Girl Scout Chorus right here in Central Maryland? Yes, indeed, and it’s always open to new members of any age who like to sing.
Where do we sing?
The GSCM Chorus has performed at many events: Girl Scouts Rock the Mall, Orioles and Ironbirds games, the B&O Train Museum and local parades, just to name a few. We also sing at nursing homes, festivals, area malls and other Girl Scout activities. We rehearse monthly at the Clementine Peterson Activity Building at Camp Ilchester in Ellicott City. This year we are expanding to include a rehearsal site in Cockeysville.
We’ll be rehearsing twice in groups in October.
Sundays, October 5 and 19:
- Camp Ilchester with 1st and 2nd year Chorus members from 2-3:30 and experienced Chorus members from 3-4:30 PM
- 6:00-7:00 PM at the Drool of Rock, 532 Cranbrook Road, Cockeysville, MD 21030
We’ll all get together to rehearse, making music together, on November 14, at Camp Ilchester at 7pm. We can sing, enjoy some refreshments and those who desire, can spend the night.
What do we sing?
We sing all sorts of songs including: Girl Scout songs, holiday songs, popular songs, campfire songs, rounds and songs with motions. Check out our website, www.gscmchorus.org, and our Facebook page to see some of our faces and hear our songs.
We are also in need of a couple of new accompanists. If you play piano, keyboard, banjo, guitar, accordion, fiddle or anything else, we would love for you to join us! The songs are not difficult to learn and performing is always fun.
Cost: $10 for the year covers rehearsals, patch, and Chorus polo shirt.
Hooray for Girl Scouts!
