There will be four Outdoor Badges added to the Girl Scout program in fall 2015—one each at Brownie, Junior, Cadette, and Senior levels.

Why Outdoors based badges?
The decision was made based on girl interest and feedback from the field.

How will these badges be chosen?
The badges chosen will be voted on by girls!

First, through the “Girls’ Choice” process, girls will vote on which content area they’re interested in within the Outdoor category (i.e.: Outdoor Recreation, Outdoor Environment, or Outdoor Survival).

Once the content area has been determined, girls will vote on the actual badge topic (for example, Hiking, Camping, Trail Blazing, etc.), based on their grade level in the coming year.
