Last year, Howard County Girl Scout Becky earned her Girl Scout Gold Award by creating a club at Centennial High School, called Vintage Voices, which performs sing-alongs at local Assisted Living Homes for senior citizens. The Vintage Voices club sings and dances to music from the “swing era”, which helps residents at the Assisted Living Homes, especially those with dementia, reminisce about their pasts.
Before graduating from high school, Becky elected underclassmen to the Vintage Voices club’s board, to ensure the club would continue. But she didn’t stop there…
Last semester Becky got student government approval to start Vintage Voices at her new school, the University of Maryland! The club starts meeting and performing this semester.
