Troop 21215’s Service Project

Troop 21215 had so many great ideas on how to help their community for a service project this year, it was hard to pick one to start with! The girls decided to make an impact on those who are less fortunate – the homeless in their communities. They came up with a way to do just that; they used old t-shirts to make tote bags, and then filled them with supplies that would benefit someone who was homeless.

In order to get the appropriate supplies, they reviewed lists from shelters and added a few ideas of their own, like books, because they might get bored and some candies that could make them happy. The troop also included  a note explaining how they earned money from their cookie sale to purchase the supplies and how they hoped this bag would help make that person’s day better. Each bag contained over 15 items including, personal hygiene products, food and drinks, socks, a lighter, markers, a notepad, and a $5 McDonald’s gift card. Each girl made 2 -3 bags to hand out the next time they see someone in need. Way to go girls–you’ve made a positive impact in the community. Keep up the great work!

Troop 21215 is GSCM’s multi-age- level troop for girls waiting to  join  a troop. The girls meets once a month. There are currently over 600 girls waiting for troop leaders, please keep these girls in mind when you or someone you know is looking for a way to help us build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who will make our world a better place.
