Girl Scouts are G.I.R.L.s. They are the leaders and change-makers of today and tomorrow, each possessing the skills needed to make the world a better place–they just need your help in getting there. On average less than 6% of all philanthropy dollars go to causes for girls but this #GivingTuesday we want to change that! By donating to Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, your investment drives girl-led programming that combines life skills, STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement—everything girls need to build a better world for us all!

Lifetime Girl Scout member, Cathy Litofsky is an ardent supporter of Girl Scouting—she was a girl member, employee, volunteer and trainer with the organization. Below, she explains why her commitment to the oldest and only organization dedicated to empowering women is so strong.
“Girl Scouts has been a part of my life since the 1960s when I was a Brownie Girl Scout in upstate New York. It is there that I fell in love with the out of doors. As an adult, I led both my daughters’ troops in Maryland, each of them finding their own path and niche. My oldest daughter shadowed Jacqueline Thomas, an editor for the Baltimore Sun. She continued her education with a master’s program in marketing and communications and uses her skills in her present job.
My youngest daughter was a self-starter and loved to explore different topics. She was fascinated with the [Girl Scout] Architectural Design Interest Project and pursued a major and career in architecture. And yes, she was a top cookie seller in Baltimore County when she was in high school. Both girls were shaped by their Girl Scout experience.
I have just finished celebrating the Jewish New Year, which began with Rosh Hashanah and concluded with Yom Kippur. It was a time of reflection and I came to realize and understand the simple take-away from my reflections this year is achrayoot– “to take responsibility.” I concluded that I use “achrayoot” to take responsibility to act by giving back to Girl Scouts.”
