Together We Dream: A Short Film, Poem and Essay Contest
In honor of the work of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the voice that inspired change, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland challenges you to examine today’s global, civil and human rights issues. Let your voice be heard by sharing how you feel about how we as individuals, a community or nation treat and act towards one another. How does it impact you? How can we and how do you show compassion for others? How can society make a change and, how we can support each other in this journey?
What issues touch your heart and what is YOUR dream for our country or the world?
Tell us how you think we can do a better job of peacefully resolving conflict. What can we do to impact legislation and affect change? Who/what inspires you to take a stand?
Join the conversation! Your thoughts, ideas, and stories matter. Submit your poem, short film (maximum 3 minutes), or essay (maximum 175 words) that answer any or all of the questions above.

Submissions for the contest must be received by February 14, 2018, by 5:00 pm. Submissions can be emailed to Communications@gscm.org. or delivered to the GSCM Program Center by hand or mail: 4806 Seton Drive, Baltimore, MD 21215

Be a 2018 Distinguished Women’s Shadow Girl!
Calling all Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors: Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Distinguished Women Shadow Award program.
As part of our Distinguished Women’s Award Celebration, we honor five esteemed women from across central Maryland and provide five Girl Scouts the opportunity to shadow them. As a Distinguished Woman Shadow Girl, you will spend the day with one of the honorees and experience first-hand, a typical day in her professional role, and learn more about how she navigates her career.
As one 2017 Shadow Girl shared during her speech at last year’s event:
“While I am not yet certain exactly what will happen in the future, I do know that I want to become a lawyer. Shadowing Ms. Dennis certainly solidified these aspirations, and I cannot thank her or GSCM enough for the opportunity.”
Click here to download the 2018 Shadow Girl application now! The application can also be found at http://www.gscm.org/shadowgirl.
Applications are due (emailed or postmarked) by January 5, 2018.
