This past weekend, the Girl Scouts from Troop 4905, Service Unit 637 in Odenton, proved that they have the confidence to lead the way and make their world a better place.

On Saturday, December 16, the troop gathered at the 25th annual Happy Helpers for the Homeless Christmas party in Glen Burnie where they distributed over 60 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies they collected through the Cookies from the Heart campaign during this year’s sale. To help spread even more cheer to the people they were serving, each box had a hand-made holiday card attached.

What’s next for Troop 4905? After collecting over 160 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies through Cookies from the Heart, the girls voted to donate their cookies to the homeless and local firefighters. Now that they have made their first donation, the Troop is looking forward to visiting a local firehouse in January to continue spreading Girl Scout cheer through the new year!

Did You Know?

Happy Helpers for the Homeless, an organization that distributes food and toiletries to homeless people in Baltimore and Glen Burnie, was founded in 1993 by Girl Scouts of Central Maryland Alumna, Amber Coffman! In 2011, Amber was honored for her commitment to service by Glen Burnie Park Elementary School and we were there to capture her words of wisdom for students about how her volunteer work has shaped her life.
