The January 2018 VINE

Daisy Recruitment is Underway!

Daisies_VINE

GSUSA launched its annual Girl Scout Daisy recruitment campaign on January 1st.  We are excited to invite new girls to take their first steps on their Girl Scout journey.  Girl Scout Daisies are ready and eager to earn petals, participate in community service and make new friends as part of a troop.

Your troop may already be up and running, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to welcome new members! Adding new girls to your troop—even midyear—can help energize your group, showcase the Girl Scout spirit of sisterhood and inclusion, and demonstrate by example, how Girl Scouts is the best leadership development experience for girls in the world.

We are asking our Daisy troop leaders to consider expanding their troops so that more girls can experience the fun of Girl Scouting. To smooth the transition for your newbies, we have a list of  fun activities you can incorporate  into your meetings to help the new girls feel at home in no time at all!  Click here to get started.

Adult Recognitions

Our Girl Scout volunteers have an enormous impact on the girls they mentor, motivate, and inspire. They contribute countless hours to Girl Scouts on top of their own busy schedules and hectic lives. Girl Scouting wouldn’t be the same without them.

Giving and receiving recognition and showing appreciation for volunteers is essential.  Whether in the form of a simple thank you for a small job well done or a formal commendation for years of continued service in a key role, an acknowledgement is a signal that she or he is noticed and appreciated.

A great way to recognize that special Girl Scout Volunteer in your life who goes “above and beyond” is to nominate them for a GSCM or GSUSA Adult Award.  The process to submit a Volunteer for an Adult Award is outlined in the Recognitions Digest.

If you are thinking of submitting an Adult Award for a Volunteer, please make sure the paperwork is completed by the next deadline, February 28, 2018.  Submit the forms to membercare@gscm.org and they will be reviewed at the next Adult Awards Committee meeting.  If you need assistance or have questions regarding the process, please submit them to membercare@gscm.org.
