The April 2018 VINE

TheVINE

Volunteers: Without you, there’s no us—so THANK YOU!

Because of you we’re able to build girls of courage, confidence, and character and prepare them for the lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure that every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ deserves.  Although everything girls do in Girl Scouts is girl-led, mentors like you make all the difference in the quality of a girl’s experience and the amazing things she learns . Because when your G.I.R.L. spirit shines, hers does too. Thank you!

Early Bird Updates

Congratulations to Girl Scout Cadette, Katherine P. from Troop 1827 for designing the winning 2019 Early Bird Patch!

Early Bird is the time for volunteers and girls to renew their registration for the coming year so girls keep their spaces in troops and troops are ready to participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program in the fall.

2019 Incentives
This year’s troop incentive (an additional $.08 per box in cookie profits) will be much easier to qualify for!  Service units will have a chance to earn incentives and renewed girls will earn the patch on the right, designed by Girl Scout Katherine P.!

New for this year is an online self-check that will allow troops and service units to check troop qualification as the renewal process moves along.

Key Dates
April 17th – Deadline for troop requests for VTK roster clean up.  Send requests to: membercare@gscm.org

April 23rd – Troop and service unit “snapshot” taken (see details below)

April 24th – GSCM  Early Bird renewal opens

June 27th – GSCM troop incentive qualification ends

VTK Roster “Snapshot” Preparation
The VTK roster “snapshot” is the basis for the percentage calculation criteria for troop incentives.  Members that have not participated in your troop this year should be removed from the VTK roster so the “snapshot” will be accurate for your troop.  Review your roster and submit requests to remove inactive members to membercare@gscm.org before the VTK Roster “snapshot is taken.”  Requests must be received by April 17th.  Below are instructions to complete troop roster preparation.

  1. Log onto MyGS and look at your VTK roster to see if any inactive members need to be removed. If there are, send a request to membercare@gscm.org. Include the troop number and the name of members to be removed from your roster.
  2. If you have not already logged into MyGS to see your roster, you can do so by doing the following:
  3. Go to https://gsmembers.force.com/members/login
  4. Use the email you use for your preferred Girl Scout contact for your user name
  5. Enter your password or click on the “Forgot Your Password?” link
  6. If you clicked “Forgot your password” you will receive a short email for password reset from gsusacustomercare@girlscouts.org with the Subject “Your New Member Community password” (Be sure to check your junk folder if the email does not show in your inbox). Follow the instructions to reset your password.
  7. If you need assistance, please contact membercare@gscm.org.
  8. Send an email to membercare@gscm.org once you have identified the girls that need to be removed from your VTK roster. Be sure to include your troop number.

Show Your Appreciation for our Volunteers with a Gift to Family Partnership!

Every day, Girl Scout volunteers make it possible for girls across central Maryland to enjoy and benefit from an adventure-having, skill-building, lead-taking, life-changing good time. It’s undeniable: without our volunteers’ commitment to unleashing the G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ in every girl, we couldn’t and wouldn’t be the largest girls’ leadership organization in the world. But we are thanks to them.

Show your appreciation for everything your daughter’s troop leader does for her by making a donation in her honor to Family Partnership. Funds from Family Partnership help us train every amazing, dedicated council volunteer.

And your daughter can benefit from a donation in her troop leader’s honor, too! The troop leader with the most donations made in her honor will receive free Canoe and Kayak Certification Training, and the leader with the most dollars donated in her honor will receive free Archery Certification Training.
