Girl Scout Earns Bronze by Paying it Forward

Go-Getter Alert!

Marleigh S. from Troop 618 of Fallston, MD just completed her goal of making pillowcases to donate to the local chapter of Case for Smiles.

The pillowcases cases are given out to children who are undergoing care at hospitals that involve overnight care (locally, this is mainly Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital). What makes this even more special to Marleigh, is that she and her sister Girl Scout, Lillian, were both recipients of pillowcases from Johns Hopkins Children’s Center during their own hospital stays.

So, to earn her Girl Scout Bronze Award, Marleigh decided to pay it forward and make pillowcases for other kids!

Ryan’s Cases for Smiles expresses, “With every stitch, every yard of fabric and every pillowcase we get one step closer to our goal of helping kids with cancer and life-changing illnesses feel better to heal better.”

Marleigh planned, shopped, fundraised, and coordinated a Sew, Cut & Iron-a-thon with fellow Girl Scouts. She then donated the pillowcases at her local JoAnn Fabrics, which is a donation location for Ryan’s Cases for Smiles.

Way to go, Marleigh!
