On Saturday, January 12, 2019, local Girl Scouts gathered at the GSCM Program center to pack trucks and cars full of Girl Scout Cookies that were donated through the Cookies from the Heart campaign. This campaign offers cookie customers the option to purchase cookies to send to military families—active and retired – and other first responders as a way of saying “Thank You for your service.”
While most other Girl Scout Councils in the nation are just beginning their annual cookie sale, we ended ours on a high note by giving out the 28,188 boxes of cookies that were donated through Cookies from the Heart this season.
During the event, Girls had the opportunity to meet and learn from local veterans, including Edward H. Collic, Sr, the first African American Lieutenant in the Baltimore City Fire Department and a Korean War Veteran. They also learned about color guard procedures from military personnel from Fort Meade.
