As Girl Scouts, Women’s History Month is an important time for us to honor the women creating a better world. Those who came before us, those who live among us, and those who will follow.
From the female leaders who dominated the midterm elections to all of the women shaking up male-dominated industries, women aren’t just at the top of their game, they’re at the top of the game—period.
Often times when we think about women breaking barriers in male-dominated fields, we picture the corporate world. But as the G.I.R.L.s in Troop 1724 recently experienced, women are also making waves in more hands-on fields including the automotive world!
Fast Forward to February 2019 and the troop of Girl Scout Seniors made the trip from Howard County, MD to Upper Darby, PA for a one-of-a-kind experience. During their visit, the staff at GAC taught the troop all about shop safety and showed them how to complete several important maintenance tasks including how to check the tire tread depth and how to check and achieve proper tire pressure levels. They also learned how to jump a dead battery and check vital fluids–all important parts of being safe and smart car owners!
According to their website, “GAC is a woman-owned and operated business that caters to women.” GAC is shaking up the automotive industry, by empowering women, “the #1 customer in the auto industry, to be #sheCANics, confident drivers, and smart consumers.” To find out more about Girls Auto Clinic visit girlsautoclinic.com.
