Calling all Day Campers!
GSCM is excited to announce that it is offering three (3) Day Camp sessions this year.
Want your girl to experience the fun of camp, but she’s not sure about resident camp? Check out our NEW Day Camp! Each two-week session will inspire girls through hands-on experiences to exercise creativity with cooking and textile art. https://www.gscm.org/en/camp/day-camp.html
Session 1: July 6-17 in North Baltimore County (Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church)
Session 2: July 20-31 at GSCM Program Center
Session 3: August 3-14 at Camp Woodlands
Here is an overview of the two-week sessions:
Week one: Get out and play in the garden! We will take a look at the wonders of food and examine what can grow from a little dirt, water, sun and fun. During this fun-filled week, girls will examine the science behind the seed; explore environmental impacts of our food supply; and delve into the impact of food on our health and lives. Girls will spend a portion of the week germinating seeds, propagating plants, harvesting crops and transforming our harvest into delectable dishes.
Week two: What does a farm have to do with fashion? We will answer that very question during the second week of day camp as we explore the origins of fibers and how to transform various fibers into useful everyday items. Girls will examine how materials can be physically changed in a variety of ways; explore sustainable clothing options and ponder how the maker movement will change the world. In addition to traditional day camp activities, girls will meet some animals, transform fibers and put those fibers to good use making some useful textile art.
Cost per two-week session
$400.00 before February 13
$425.00 after February 13
