Cookie Booth Sale update

We are saddened that COVID-19 has had such an impact on our cookie sale and other programs.  The cookie sale is still taking place virtually, but for safety reasons, cookie booths are not taking place at this time. This decision was made after conversations with council members, board members, and Governor Hogan’s recent announcement that Maryland is again a red COVID-19 state due to the surge of cases. The safety of our girls and families is, as always, our top concern.

We don’t want girls, parents, or supporters to be disappointed but we need to heed the warnings of local professionals who share concern over a rapid COVID-19 surge in a very short time period in our area. We’re committed to working with our girls and volunteers so they can have a safe cookie sale. Please review this 1-pager for cookie delivery safety protocols and tips on how to continue with the cookie sale.

myGS, VTK, etc. Offline for Enhancements November 18 – Early December

Girl Scouts is working on a national system refresh and enhanced member account management system! In just a few weeks, myGS will become the new and improved myAccount, with even more options for managing your household and troop information! A few key benefits include:

  • For girl members with primary caregivers in multiple households, the household manager can provide access for multiple adults to see the girl’s account and make purchases on her behalf
  • Troop leaders will be able to update troop information without council support
  • Members can access their membership card in their account
  • Members can initiate their own troop-to-troop transfers, and transfers will occur automatically without council support
  • Detailed troop logistics, including meeting time, date, and location, will be easily accessible within your account
  • The Troop Catalog will have enhanced search features, including Affiliation (schools, community, or religious organizations), Focus (for troops with a specific program focus), and Language
  • For volunteers, 90-, 60-, and 30-day background check reminders will now be triggered based on your background check’s expiration date
  • Overall improved user experience across all platforms

As we prepare to launch the new myAccount experience in early December, we want to make sure you’re prepared for the downtime period, November 18 through early December.

Please review our readiness checklist and ensure that you have what you need for any troop meetings or activities on your Girl Scout calendar during the downtime period.

During system downtime, council staff will use temporary tools to capture registration and background checks. Please continue to email membercare@gscm.org for any inquiries. It is important for you to include your troop or SU number, your contact phone number and applicable girl information. Keep in mind we won’t have access to previous cases in the system and may have limited information available.

Thank you for your patience while we work to enhance your Girl Scout member experience!
