Program Updates

Winter Cookie Sale Pilot begins TODAY!
Are you ready for some Be Amazing winter FUN? It’s easy, it’s online and it helps build entrepreneurial skills for girls and proceeds for troop treasuries!
This year, we have learned how to do many things from home and online, including selling cookies. The direct ship, credit card acceptance, and Council subsidized shipping options all helped boost safe sales through touchless transactions. It’s as easy as sending emails or posting your direct ship link to social media sites. Check out all the tips and resources to help make your online cookie sale a success at GSUSA’s Just for Cookie Sellers page and GSCM’s For Cookie Sellers page.
Smartcookies will re-open for all Central Maryland troops and girls who participated in the Fall Cookie Sale, as well as newly registered Troops and girls who want to begin selling Girl Scout Cookies. Existing troops and girls can simply log back into Smartcookies and pick up where they left off in December. Any new Troop Cookie Managers need to contact their Service Unit Cookie Manager for assistance with cookie sale training, access to the Smartcookies system, and cookie sale support.
February 15, 2021 Smartcookies re-opens to allow for Troop Virtual Booths with curb-side pick-up following GSCM’s posted COVID-19 guidelines, the NEW Troop Direct Ship link (sharable and connected to GSUSA’s national cookie finder app), Girl Direct Ship link and Girl Delivery orders. The system still has all your data from the fall and the winter pilot sales will simply add-on to your fall totals.
Please see your Service Unit Cookie Manager for complete details on GSUSA opt out and for any training, sales materials, system reports or other cookie sale support you may need. Troops who do not wish to participate in the winter pilot should alert their parents NOT to accept any girl delivery orders by turning off that option in the girl’s Smartcookies profile page. However, all girls will still be able to use their direct ship link to sell cookies via direct ship through March 15th.
Winter Pilot Girl Recognitions will be calculated manually on 3/16/2021 per Smartcookies girl sales report for the period 12/13/20 through 3/15/21. Items are cumulative. Be sure all troop to girl transfers are complete so girls get credit towards winter recognitions. Girl recognitions are sent to the Service Unit Cookie Manager for distribution to the troops in April 2021.

“Diversity, Inclusion, and You” Event on February 20
Originally planned as part of G.I.R.L. 2020, our G-Team-hosted DEI event will now take place February 20. Girls in grades 6–12 are invited to join a conversation with inspiring individuals—corporate leaders and a panel of 2019 and 2020 National Gold Award Girl Scouts—who work for diversity, equity, and inclusion to make the world a better place. Our panelists will discuss how they’ve advanced DEI in the workplace and in their communities. They’ll talk about their efforts to end violence against Indigenous women, expand the inclusion of people with disabilities, increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, combat food deserts, address menstrual stigma, and more.
Girls who attend the event will:
- Learn about careers that are focused on advancing DEI
- Think about and gain inspiration for their own Take Action projects or Gold Award projects
- Learn and be able to ask questions about issues related to DEI
This event is made possible by Little Brownie Bakers and The David and Lura Lovell Foundation. Click here to register.
