The February Vine

Sign up for the Mag-Nut Program!

Troops can still earn proceeds and rewards from the sale of delicious nuts & candy, as well as magazines, to fund activities and adventures all online!  Girls will register individually and create an avatar that looks like them and use email, social media, or texts to get online orders from family and friends. It’s easy and fun for the girls to learn e-commerce and e-marketing skills!

WE NEED YOU!

The Volunteer Product Sales Committee ensures proper evaluation of all Product Sales activity and makes recommendations for future sales. The committee is currently seeking new members. If you love the cookie program, want to have input at the Council level, can attend one meeting per month, and commit to a one year term…then this is a perfect opportunity for you! Contact Terry Mercer at tmercer@gscm.org for more details or to volunteer to join our team!

It’s not too late to apply to be a DW Shadow Girl!

Don’t let your girls miss out on this amazing professional development experience!

Mental Health Mondays

Join the Say It Brave Collective on the 3rd Monday of each month to hear what mental health advocates have to say about important topics in mental health. Each month will take us on an inspiring journey toward mental wellness as we gather to discuss goals, challenges, and triumphs. All participants will receive a special patch to spread the message of hope and “Say It Brave”! Check out the Events Calendar to see the monthly topic and register to join us.

Summer will soon be here! Check out these camp sessions:

Habitat for Camp | Session 4 – Juniors
Lend us your helping hands to improve Camp Conowingo’s garden and NEW green house. Get your hands dirty as you dig in the gardens at camp and learn about edible plants, and navigation by the stars. Create a mosaic flower pot, germinate seeds, get inspired with pressed flowers, and help build raised beds or garden structures, and host a garden party! When you are not discovering the secrets of bugs, composting and what makes flowers bloom, you will have time to swim, hike and climb the rock wall too!

iKayak | Session 4 – Cadettes
You will start your adventure by learning all the basics of kayaking on flat water, including rescue and safety techniques and paddle strokes. Then you will go off camp to enjoy the panoramic views as you paddle and explore local waterways. If your arms need a rest you can relax and participate in other camp activities such as arts & craft and nature exploration.

G.A.R.C. Shenandoah | Session 8 – Seniors/Ambassadors
Spend the first night at camp preparing for your weeklong adventure and then load up the vans for a week of exciting adventures. For the next three nights, travel out to the amazing Shenandoah National Park to explore the different regions of the park. Stay in a campground each night and explore the mountains and forests while spending nights at your site cooking your own food and singing camp songs around the campfire. You can choose to go hike the Appalachian Trail or visit one of the National Park centers. At the end of your trip, you will stop and visit the underground caves of Luray Caverns. Each day decide with your new friends what you want to do and what you want to explore on this great adventure!

It’s almost our 110th Birthday! Celebrate the upcoming Girl Scout Week with a Trefoil Quest & Birthday Boxes!

Let’s celebrate! On Saturday, March 12, 2022, Girl Scouts turns 110, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland turns 60 and the Trefoil is back on the main stage. This program will consist of a “GooseChase” with missions to complete at various locations throughout central Maryland. Your team can participate in your local area or take this quest to the max and adventure through the council footprint to complete as many missions as you can. The excitement doesn’t stop there! This year during Girl Scout Birthday Week, we’re sharing the fun with the goal of collecting items for Birthday Boxes for children in foster care.
