This morning, 34 Girl Scouts from central Maryland helped kick off the Year of the Girl at Washington D.C.-launch of ToGetHerThere at the Cannon House Office Building. The ToGetHerThere campaign celebrates Girl Scouts’ 100 year history of providing girls with the requisite skills, including courage, confidence and character, to become leaders in their schools, communities and the world. World Reknowned Jewelry Designer Donates to DW Auction

Jewelry designer and artist Betty Cooke has created an original piece for Girl Scouts of Central Maryland’s Distinguished Women’s Award reception auction. A former Distinguished Woman honoree and Girl Scout alumna, Ms. Cooke is known internationally for her original jewelry pieces. She received the De Beers diamonds Today Award in 1979 and 1981for her unique and artful approach to design. Authors Share their Stories at Women’s Leadership Forum

Last Wednesday, a group of women came together for GSCM’s 5th Annual Women’s Leadership Forum, held this year at the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center, to share their stories and inspire us to share ours as well. Girls Rock 1st Mariner for World Thinking Day

More than 1,000 Girl Scouts, friends and family filled 1st Mariner Arena on Sunday to celebrate World Thinking Day, an annual Girl Scout event where girls participate in activities, games, and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. This year’s theme, Empowering Girls Will Change Our World, was showcased in several performances and displays about different cultures and countries, which also showed how girls live in different parts of the world.
