The GSCM World Thinking Day Committee has been meeting all summer to get started on the 2015 World Thinking Day event. We wanted to make sure that troops have the the information needed to secure a spot in this year’s event. The event is listed in the GS411, however, there have been a few changes to the listing on page 30 of the GS411; the fee has been reduced for all participants and we will be splitting the day between Girl Scout levels so that we can focus on age-appropriate activities for each.
This year our World Thinking Day Millennium Goal is: Developing partnerships for global development. Our first partnership in development is with the Diversity & Inclusion council at Charlestown Retirement Community. We are reaching out to a few other organizations to highlight their service and support to communities worldwide. See the information below that applies to your troop/group program level.
Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies
Girls will “travel around the world” to learn about the culture, music, and games from a variety of countries in each of the WAGGGS Regions. The event is open to Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors, including Juliettes. Girls will receive the 2015 GSCM World Thinking Day patch. Snacks and food tastings will be available at the event for no additional cost. The Erickson Conference Center food service will be providing the snacks as required in their facility use agreement.

Volunteering
If your troop would like to run one of the stations for the Daisy and Brownie session, please let us know! Your troop would not need to plan, prepare or bring anything except for their smiling faces! The committee is looking at waiving the adult fee for up to a certain number of adults attending with the troop if your troop volunteers during the Daisy and Brownie session.
Topic Suggestions for older girls
Help us choose topics for WTD! Please survey your girls on what they think are pressing issues and concerns around the world that they would like to learn about, focus on or feel a strong need to take action. E-mail their suggestions to Cathy Litofsky at smurfette@comcast.net and their ideas will be considered for this year’s WTD event for the older girls.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2015 event.
In Girl Scouting,
Cathy Litofsky
WTD Committee
