Chainsaw artist Evelyn Mogren creates art out of old fallen trees and tree stumps with, you guessed it, a chainsaw. She’s created several pieces at GSCM’s Camp Ilchester including animal carvings and a totem commemorating Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary. Check out the video below to see her at work. Congratulations to Girl Scouts Rose and Emily of Troop 2313 in Elkridge who recently earned their Girl Scout Silver Awards for their work to refurbish Peter Pan Pines at Camp Whippoorwill. To complete their project, the girls dedicated their summer days to building six benches for a fire ring, clearing away brush from the camp area, building a firewood box and painting the pavilion and picnic tables. GSCM’s campaign to repair and restore the Camp Woodlands teepee, Lamb Lodge, was recently featured in the Baltimore Sun. In the early 1950’s, the teepee at Girl Scouts’ Camp Woodlands was conceived and built by a team of volunteers that included the Anne Arundel County Girl Scouts Council, the Naval Academy Math Department, and numerous Girl Scouts and their families.
